May 06-- Rhode Island Celebrates Water Week 2003 at the Providence Water Supply Board

U.S. Geological Survey staff members Mark Nimiroski, Kelly Stroker, and Emily Wild participated the water week event. Educational demonstrations were given to over 200 second- and third-grade students from the Providence area. The USGS display included a 3-dimensional ground-water model showing the movement of water through the surficial deposits, an example of how to read topographic maps and the information maps provide using a 3-dimensional relief model, and a non-point pollution surface-water model. Sarah Lovell assisted with the teacher packet preparations for the water week event. Dennis Ventetuolo constructed the new 3-dimensional relief model for the topographic map demonstration.
