AUTOMATED PROCESS FOR MONITORING GROUND - WATER QUALITY USING ESTABLISHED MANUAL SAMPLING PROTOCOLS

Automated Station Real-Time Data Via Voice-Modem

The automated stations can be equipped with voice modems so that an operator can call and obtain real-time measurements from a remote location.  If you have a windows PC with speakers you can hear real-time data from our monitoring station.

  • The station identifies itself by the station number, and recites the most current measurement by well number for:
  • the specific conductance of ground water (a measure of the amount of dissolved constituents) --measured in microsiemens per centimeter at 25 degrees Celsius,
  • the pH of ground water (a measure of acidity) measured in standard pH units, and
  • the water level--measured in feet below land surface.

To hear a recent measurement from our salt-water intrusion monitoring site on Cape Cod:

  1. Click Here!   (Note: if the sound application does not play properly save the file to your disk and play it locally.)
  2. choose to open the "wav" file from its current location, and
  3. when your sound player appears on-screen it should begin playing the message, if not click on the play button--usually a forward arrow to hear the voice-modem speech message.
