The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) and the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) are currently cooperating in a national project to evaluate FHWA's guidelines for highway-runoff quality. The FHWA wants to determine if current guidelines for highway runoff quality are up-to-date and technically supportable, or if additional information is needed to update the guidelines. The FHWA wants a catalog of existing studies and available data. Information collected will be used to determine if available data are sufficient to characterize pollutant loadings and impacts attributable to highway stormwater runoff around the country. This web page will provide a catalog of reports, and other information as it becomes available. More information about this project FHWA reports published by this project USGS reports published by this project On-line searchable bibliography of over 2,600 pertinent references to be published in the catalog of available information. The catalog includes reports on highway-runoff water quality, urban/stormwater issues, atmospheric deposition, and highway/urban runoff best management practices (BMPs) from the USGS, FHWA, USEPA, and State transportation agencies. The database of over 2,600 reports with abstracts and metadata is available on CD-ROM in the report RELATED INFORMATION: PERTINENT ENVIRONMENTAL LEGISLATION THE FEDERAL REGISTER a searchable database of Rules, Proposed Rules, and Notices of Federal agencies and organizations, as well as Executive Orders and other Presidential Documents.
